Automated Pavement Distress Data Collection Round-Table Discussion

  • May 5, 2014 (9:30 - 12:00 pm CT; 8:30 - 11:00 am MT)
Video Conference (designated rooms at DOT sites)

This presentation is intended to provide insights into the pavement distress data collection practices of the state DOT’s of Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. Reliable automated pavement distress scoring is the holy grail of pavement management systems. Each of the 4 states is either starting down the path of automated distress scoring or is working with partial automated distress scoring. During this presentation, one or more representatives of each state will give a 15-minute presentation followed by a 15-minute question/answer period. The following outline will be used by each group:

  • What pavement distress data collection equipment is your state using?
  • When was it acquired?
  • What distress scoring and sampling method was used prior to acquisition of current equipment?
  • What distress scoring and sampling is used since the acquisition?
  • How often do you collect your system data?
  • If applicable – how are you converting to a new scoring /sampling method and correlating with historical data?
  • What processing issues are you experiencing?
  • Do you collect any off-state system data?
  • What Asset Management Software do you use?
