Conflict – the very word conjures up unpleasant associations in most people’s minds. But differences of opinion turn up in all healthy workplaces; we all benefit from learning to handle these differences productively. Participants will practice negotiating and collaboration skills and learn to look for common ground and creative ways of resolving differences. By participating in interactive exercises, participants will practice finding win/win solutions and building collaborative working relationships. Video: Dealing with Conflict.

Cathy Poe has more than 20 years of experience in both corporate human resources management and higher education student services. She has demonstrated strengths as a coach, counselor, trainer, team builder, facilitator and consultant. Her extensive experience in individual and staff development with emphasis on fostering a learning environment, includes creating and delivering training in personal accountability, career development, supervision, employee selection, performance management, developing and retaining talent, creating high performing teams, and diversity. Cathy’s expertise includes facilitating team start-ups and interventions, including team health assessment and interaction agreements. She has coached early and mid-career high potential employees, creating and tracking their development plans. Her previous employers include Harris Corporation, a global telecommunications company of 12,000 employees, Cooper Tire and Rubber Company, Florida Institute of Technology, Ohio University, and the University of Maine. She has Masters Degrees in both personnel psychology and student development, with a focus on human and team development, performance, and the adult learner.

Target Audience
