  • Design guidelines – selecting pipe gauge, coating and size; inlet/outlet control, when Manning’s matters, soil basics, soil envelope, etc.
  • Installation process – line and grade, backfill materials, soil/pipe interaction, construction equipment, repairs, etc.
  • Construction loads – initial construction and future roadway reconstruction efforts
  • Floatation – buoyancy forces
  • Inspection best practices, pre and post installation
  • Failure modes and risks – construction, debris, end of life, ph, abrasion, head pressure, loading, UV, etc. Failures will be covered in detail to instill the need to follow the standards recommended for a successful pipe installation with the goal to provide the pipe life that was purchased
  • Asset inventory – recommendations
  • New products – new technologies – new pipe types, liner options, what’s next?

Speaker(s)

Jason S. Kruger is the Technical Resource Director at Dakota Concrete Pipe Association (DCPA) and the Minnesota Concrete Pipe Association (MnCPA). He educates designers, specifiers, contractors, business owners and engineering students on the technical and economic aspects of concrete pipe for culverts, storm and sanitary sewer applications. Kruger has worked his entire 27-year career in the concrete and cement industry with positions in technical service and engineering management. He is a 1988 civil engineering graduate of Iowa State University in Ames.
