Description

Just as a bid is an estimate of the costs needed to construct a project, the schedule is an estimate of the time needed to construct a project. The project schedule is the only project management tool on the project that will predict when the project will finish. Too often, the parties to a project neglect or ignore the project schedule, which leads to unresolved delays and potentially litigation. This presentation is intended to provide attendees with 10 actions to get good schedule from contractors, obtain timely and reasonable updates of the schedule, and to resolve delays during the project to avoid claims and litigation. This presentation is being delivered by an experienced instructor who can provide the perspective of both the contractor, who is typically responsible for developing and updating the project schedule, and the owner, who is typically responsible with reviewing and accepting the project schedule and evaluating requests for additional time.

Mark F. Nagata, PSP, is a Director with Trauner Consulting Services, Inc. Mark has over two decades of experience with development and review of CPM schedules, delay analysis, construction claims preparation and evaluation, dispute resolution, and training. His work expertise includes reviewing CPM schedule, reviewing time extension requests, and performing CPM schedule delay analyses on construction projects. As part of these efforts, Mark evaluates project performance and change orders and works closely with his project teams to resolve disagreements and to avoid disputes during construction.
