In an effort to support the FHWA Work Zone Safety and Mobility Rule that applies to all State and Local Governments receiving Federal-aid highway funding (reference 23 CFR 630 Subpart J), we are pleased to offer the ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) course as the industry standard for work zone safety training.

This course covers typical applications that apply to short duration activities, including utility operations, moving operations, and other short duration maintenance operations. Emphasis is placed on the use of simplified procedures and worker protection. We will discuss and identify the characteristics of projects that are most suited for consideration of exposure control measures and develop guidelines for their use. As well as determine the suitability of appropriate positive protection devices (or other worker exposure control measures) for a specific work zone situation.

There will be an exam at the end of the day with approximately one hour to complete. Participants will be required to have their cameras turned on during the exam.

This is not a certification class. ATSSA will issue certificates of completion.

Tim Luttrell, ATSSA Master Trainer, is a Senior Transportation Engineer with Leidos and is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Tennessee and the District of Columbia.

Target Audience

Personnel involved in the maintenance activities within the public rights-of-way. Mowing operations, slow moving operations, patching, etc. Decision makers would also benefit from this presentation to help provide the necessary protective devices for their staff.
