Description

In this presentation, we will discuss the basic equipment used to place, compact, and control asphalt pavements. We will also identify modern equipment that can be used to build a quality asphalt roadway project. In addition, we will discuss how to utilize the efficiencies of technological advances while accounting for the limitations of this technology.

Speaker(s)

Dr. R. Buzz Powell, P.E. Buzz earned a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at Auburn University with an emphasis in pavements and geomaterials. He worked for 12 years with the Alabama DOT and 2 years in the private sector before becoming NCAT's first Test Track Manager in 1999. In the fall of 2023, Buzz became the Technical Director of the Asphalt Pavement Alliance. He is passionate about supporting and promoting quality asphalt pavement!
