Description
Like making your favorite meal, the ingredients need to be the right amount, applied at the right time, and consumed at the ideal temperature. Blending chemicals for snow and ice control is no different. There is a specific science behind it all. In this presentation, we will discuss the blending process, percentages, and temperatures in which they are most effective.

Mark Devries is an Application Expert for Vaisala Inc. He serves as a resource that is helping clients/agencies/etc. to improve their operations and works with them to solve problems, offers training opportunities and serves as customer support. Mark is considered a snow and ice expert and a top trainer and presenter. He has 34 years of experience in administration and maintenance of public highways.
Laura Fay, Cold Climate Operations and Systems Program Manager, Western Transportation Institute at Montana State University. Mrs. Fay holds a M.S. in Environmental Science and Health from the University of Nevada, Reno and a B.S. in Earth Sciences from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She has over a decade of transportation related research experience and a demonstrated publication record in the areas of winter maintenance operations and environmental issues related to maintenance operations and materials, and low volume roads.
