This presentation will discuss PCC (Portland Cement Concrete) joint sealing concepts. The presentation will cover the following areas:

  • History of PCC joint sealing
  • Research on Seal/No Seal
  • Current concepts for new construction joint sealing
  • Including white topping, working and tied joints, manholes, intersections, urban joints, etc.
  • Current concepts for maintenance based joint sealing
  • CPR based sealing
  • Manuals

Speaker(s)

Daniel P. Frentress, PE, is a PCC pavement preservation specialist having developed his career working with the American Concrete Paving Association, the Concrete Paving Association of Minnesota, and as an Assistant County Engineer in Iowa. Since 2002, Dan has managed his own consulting business specializing in PCC pavement related training for MnDOT and others, and holds a Professional Engineer’s license in Minnesota and Iowa. Dan is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Concrete Institute.
