Description

This presentation will discuss roadway design process and prepare construction documents. Specific time and cost management skills, as well as quality control/assurance techniques, will be presented to enable design engineers, engineering consultants, and civil service professionals to produce cost effective construction documents for building and civil infrastructure projects. Tentative schedule as follows:

Wednesday, October 28th: 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM
Session 1: Project Scoping and Conceptual Design.
Session 2: Developing a Work Plan and Organizing Resources.
Session 3: Public Outreach and Communications during Design.

Thursday, October 29th: 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM
Session 4: Design Documentation and Meeting Management.
Session 5: Developing Design Schedules and Estimating Design Budgets.

Friday, October 30th: 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM
Session 6: Monitoring and Controlling Scope, Schedule, and Budget.
Session 7: Quality Management and Constructability Review.

Speaker(s)

Lonny Simonian, PE, M.ASCE, Fullbright Scholar has over 25 years of experience in the design and construction engineering of civil infrastructure systems. He is a Professor at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Mr. Simonian is a licensed professional engineer in the State of California and is certified as a Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute.

Target Audience

Scoping, design, bridge, and construction staff are encouraged to attend this training. Those in the non-engineering workforce will also benefit and gain insight into the project management process.
