Description

Inevitably, younger engineering and other personnel begin to think about becoming project managers. "Moving up" seems logical. Perhaps success in your current position guarantees success as a project manager. Are you contemplating a project management role because you want to or because you think you have to?

This pragmatic 60-minute webinar will guide you through the process of deciding if you want to become a project manager and, if so, how to do it. Project engineer, project architect, project planner, and similar positions differ markedly from the project management role; that's the premise of this seminar. The presenter identifies reasons to move into project management; describes the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to succeed; suggests many ways to acquire them; and offers advice on how to get your opportunity to advance. Recently appointed project managers will obtain advice on how to be more effective.

Speaker(s)

Stuart "Stu" Walesh, PhD, PE, F.NSPE, Dist.M.ASCE, an independent consultant-teacher-author, earned a BSCE from Valparaiso University, a MSE from Johns Hopkins University, and a PhD in engineering from the University of Wisconsin.
