Why Attend

Join North Dakota State University and PE Services for a two-hour webinar focused on practical, real-world strategies for achieving and maintaining environmental compliance on construction projects. This session will cover recent updates to North Dakota's regulatory mechanisms and explore how a well-developed SWPPP can go beyond the traditional template to become an essential project management tool.

Participants will gain insights into procedures that set projects up for success from the start - ensuring readiness for regulatory audits and minimizing compliance risks. The presentation will also highlight effective planning, documentation, and inspection techniques that industry professionals can apply during construction to maintain quality and environmental standards.

Whether you're an engineer, contractor, or environmental professional, this session will provide actionable best practices to help streamline compliance, conserve resources, and enhance overall project performance.

Who Should Attend

Personnel involved in the planning, design, installation, and maintenance of erosion control devices will benefit from this presentation.

Your Presenter(s)

Greg Beckius, CPESC - Director of Environmental Health & Safety: Greg Beckius is a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) with over a decade of specialized experience in environmental management and safety within the civil engineering industry. As the Director of Environmental Health & Safety, Greg excels in developing and implementing comprehensive programs that not only meet regulatory requirements but also create a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across organizations. His strong leadership and commitment to community have enabled him to successfully manage teams, ensuring that safety and compliance remain at the forefront of every project.

He has served as the Environmental Compliance Manager on numerous transportation projects of varying scale, including the I-494 Design-Build Project in Bloomington, MN - one of the most expensive transportation projects in Minnesota's history. Greg led the development of the Environmental Compliance Quality Plan and Environmental Management Plan templates, which are now widely adopted on public projects across the state.

He has delivered numerous presentations and training sessions on best management practices, installation techniques, and erosion and sediment control, including full-day programs and product-specific sessions. Greg has presented to multiple government agencies and Departments of Transportation, earning recognition for his expertise and engaging teaching style.

His ongoing mission is to educate both public and private sector professionals on stormwater compliance - emphasizing proper installation methods, sound design standards, and awareness of the risks associated with improper field practices during and after construction.

Taylor Engstrom - Sr. Environmental Scientist: Taylor Engstrom is a Senior Environmental Scientist with over eight years of experience in environmental compliance and construction management. She specializes in protecting sensitive environmental resources - including wetlands, wildlife habitats, and water bodies - by ensuring that erosion control measures and environmental standards are effectively implemented throughout all phases of construction.

Taylor brings extensive hands-on experience from major infrastructure projects, such as the $240 million METRO Gold Line Bus Rapid Transit project, where she played a key role in stormwater management and wetland protection. Her expertise extends across SWPPP design, plan review, construction site permitting, and compliance inspections, with a strong focus on meeting National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) requirements.

In addition to her project work, Taylor is deeply involved in professional education and outreach. She has partnered with the Dig-In - formally known as Minnesota Utility Contractors Association (MUCA) - to deliver Erosion Control Certification classes and contributed to the program development and curriculum for Dig-In's online recertification course. She has also assisted numerous MS4 communities with program development, training, enforcement, and facility inspections - helping local governments strengthen their compliance programs. Taylor's approach emphasizes proactive permitting, regulatory adherence, and practical field applications - ensuring that projects meet environmental obligations while maintaining construction efficiency. Her passion for education and her practical field insight make her a trusted resource and engaging speaker in the environmental compliance community.
