MPC Research: Self-Consolidating Concrete for Prestressed Bridge Girders
- Dec 12, 2018
Virtual Learning (desktop/laptop and mobile devices)
The above opportunity and more can be accessed by visiting the TLN Learning Management System (LMS).
Description
This presentation will cover research conducted by South Dakota State University under the Mountain Plains Consortium and with additional funding from Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Self-consolidating concrete (SCC) has high potential to be used for prestressed bridge girder (PSB) construction due to exceptional workability and strength. However, many local precasters have struggled to maintain uniformity in SCC mixtures, which are necessary to achieve consistent, desirable performance, which are ultimate concerns to DOTs, including WisDOT. This presentation will cover the following topics:
- Project Objectives
- Project Tasks
- SCC Material Supplier Identification
- SCC Material Testing
- SCC Mixture Design Guideline Specs adopted by Wisconsin DOT
- SCC Girder Implementation
- Conclusions
- Recommendations
